Writing for the Web is perhaps one of the most challenging aspects of Interactive Media Design and Development. Grammar mistakes can affect the whole website, and writing intellectual statements for a childrens site leads to confusion. Reflecting a positive tone is not always easy, and no shortcuts must be taken. Details are crucial and steps must be analyzed before implementing any design. The idea behind a creative brief or script, is to translate the words in the document to a fully functional website.

I already have an Associate’s Degree in web/graphic design from the Garrett College of Maryland. Next December I will graduate from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a Bachelors Science degree in Interactive Media. My educational background includes everything from general classes like English and Psychology, to technical classes like Advanced Web Scripting and Special Projects. My latest Internship at The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce involved performing various computer technical issues and working with a team of professionals. Some programming skills I have are HTML, XHTML, and CSS. I also know how to publish with Flash and Macromedia Director. I know the industry standard programs such as Microsoft Expression, Adobe Photoshop CS-3, Adobe Illustrator CS-3. Adobe InDesign CS-3, Adobe Dreamweaver CS-3, and many others. I am currently learning PHP and MySQL database technologies.
